Owner of Mama Goat Soaps, Maretta Glander, stands proudly in front of her table of all-natural handmade soaps.
Vendors lined Main Street in Downtown Elizabeth on June 5 for the annual ElizaBash street fair.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 85 local artisans, businesses, political organizations and candidates stood under their white tents in the blazing Colorado sun to advertise and sell their wares.
Businesses along Main Street were also participating, keeping their doors open for attendees to flow in and out as they shopped. Shops were filled with people looking to get a taste of the Town of Elizabeth’s charm.
One of the many excited vendors was Maretta Glander, owner of Mama Goat Soaps. She stood happily in front of her table that was covered in all-natural handmade goat milk bar soaps, accompanied by her son. Based out of Elbert, Glander is the epitome of a local artisan and business owner. Her soaps are made using the milk of her two mama goats, Annie and Molly, both 3-year-old Nubian/Alpine mix goats who live on 6 acres of land. Glander makes all of her soaps by hand in her kitchen and uses all-natural ingredients.
Glander expressed her excitement to be at the 2021 ElizaBash event. “This is our first ElizaBash” said Glander. ”We are extremely excited to be here. It is our first fair as a new business!”
Also enthused about the event was Mary Martin, executive director of the Elizabeth Area Chamber of Commerce. “This year’s ElizaBash street fair was the perfect example of collaboration among the Chamber of Commerce, the Elizabeth business community, and the Town of Elizabeth,” said Mary Martin, Executive Director of the Elizabeth Area Chamber of Commerce. “Because of the alliances built this year, along with partnerships with the Elizabeth Police Department, Public Works, Elizabeth Fire Department, in concert with the planning committee of the Elizabeth Stampede, ElizaBash 2021 was a huge success.”
The chamber is thankful to sponsors, vendors, the business community and volunteers for their help and support to make 2021 ElizaBash a success.
